Lymphoedema and Mastectomy Clinic

Forster Tuncurry Physiotherapy and Allied Health’s Lymphoedema clinic provides preventative interventions and complete decongestive therapy for lymphoedema. This includes management of cancer related lymphoedema, vascular oedema and lipoedema.

The clinic aims to facilitate recovery and function following surgery and/or treatment; increasing confidence returning to normal activities. The clinic also educates clients about reducing their risk of developing lymphoedema.

Lymphoedema Services provided include:

- Pre and post operative assessment including scar management and range of movement

- Assessment and treatment of affected body part, scars and radiation fibrosis

- Education regarding lymphoedema and potential complications

- If required; the assessment, prescription and fitting of compression garments

- Education and training for self management, lymphatic drainage, bandaging if required, lymphoedema specific exercises, skincare and putting your garments on/off

- Treatment may include:

- Manual lymphatic drainage (massage)

- Scar massage

- Low Level laser therapy

- Sequential intermittent pneumatic compression

- Garment prescription and fitting

- Compression bandaging

- Individualised exercise prescription

Treatments in the clinic may be covered by Private Health Funds, DVA or Medicare with an Enhanced Primary Care Plan referral from the G.P.

Our treating therapist is Jillian Hull, Occupational Therapist, and is accredited and registered with the Australasian Lymphology Association.
